Being a stranger in a foreign land is difficult enough at the best of times, but when Katarzyna Sroka, 26, set foot in the UK at the turn of the decade she knew she would need assistance in her search to achieve her career dream.
Originating from Wroclaw, Poland, Kat approached sportingjobs.co.uk after completing a Sports Management degree at University of Central Birmingham.
"At the end of my University journey I was determined to find a good job within the football industry. I approached sportingjobs.co.uk following a recommendation." Kat said.
"When I moved to the UK six years ago I always knew I was going to have to work extra hard to get opportunities in this country."
Very quickly, with the assistance of sportingjobs.co.uk, Kat secured an interview with a top Premier League side based in London. However, despite being front runner for the role, the position was pulled at the 11th hour due to an internal restructure at the club, leaving Kat back at square one.
Despite her devastation, Kat and sportingjobs.co.uk continued to probe for opportunities within the sport. Their perseverance finally paid off when Premier League side Stoke City approached sportingjobs.co.uk to fill a sales position they had recently become vacant.
Bowled over by her determination, ambition and focus, a short while later Kat was delighted to be offered the role of commercial sales executive with the club in September 2017.
Kat took up the role four weeks later.
"Cherie at sportingjobs.co.uk not only showed interest in securing me a job and was very helpful along the way, but was also very involved and interested in more personal side of things for me, like advice on commuting to work, finances etc. Her involvement was very comforting."
"sportingjobs.co.uk were brilliant throughout the whole process, guiding and helping me prepare in my search for a dream role. I can’t thank them enough."
"Stoke City have proved to be a fantastic club to work for; I'm looking forward to a long and happy relationship with them."
