Lead Performance Analyst

Sporting Jobs are working on behalf of a forward-thinking football club in League 1 to appoint a Lead Performance Analyst. Our Client, based in the South of the UK, is committed to enhancing its first team environment through innovation, data, and performance-led insights.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced performance analyst to lead the club’s match preparation and review process. Reporting to the Director of Football, the successful candidate will work closely with the Head Coach, data department, and wider technical staff to ensure high-quality analysis informs individual and team performance.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Delivering a robust performance analysis model across pre-match, in-game, and post-match phases.

  • Using data and video analysis to enhance individual and collective performance.

  • Preparing and presenting insights into opposition teams and matchday strategies.

  • Leading on training session filming and the creation of game plan presentations.

  • Managing an Assistant Performance Analyst and contributing to departmental planning.

  • Attending all first-team fixtures, training sessions, and relevant meetings.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A degree in a relevant field, ideally with a master’s qualification.

  • Strong experience in a similar first-team performance analysis role.

  • In-depth knowledge of platforms such as Wyscout, OPTA, and StatsBomb.

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and presentation skills.

  • A proactive, collaborative approach to performance development.

  • The flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
